What I liked

The pacing of the show was strong. Kayla mixed her honest and hilarious performance with strong audio/visual elements in a unique and captivating manner. She is a bold performer, who has no fear of showing her vulnerability, which makes it a compelling piece. Her dancing is quite good and adds to the experience. The video elements were well-crafted – and fun. She sings, she dances, and she makes you root for her – in this performance and in real life.

What I didn't like

This is a well-honed performance. Every moment was carefully structured and rehearsed. Particularly impressive was her dance interaction with the video. This was the perfect space for this piece. There was one segment that could have been a bit shorter, but overall – I wanted more of Kayla!

My overall impression

Brilliant! This was a fun, funny, and groundbreaking performance. Well-acted, well-written. Her interaction with the video elements was extremely well done. Kayla is an engaging performer, that breaks you close. This was hysterical, exhilirating and poignant. The show will make you laugh-out-loud, while touching your heart. Her story will certainly resonate with many women – and a lot of men. You will leave the theatre with a smile on your face. You’ll be left reflecting on the challenges in Kayla’s life – and perhaps your own. A tour-de-force.
