What I liked
The presentation of the piece and the minimal use of props really worked well. I feel like Mel is really able to work a room so the few things she did use had high impact and weren’t distracting or feeling “cheap” in any way. Her delivery and ability to tap into such raw emotions so fluidly was impressive to watch!
What I didn't like
I’m not sure if this part is just for Mel or for the public so SPOILER ALERT
The only thing I could think of would be maybe the placement of the sticky notes under the chairs, and maybe mine was just in a weird spot but I didn’t realize it was even there until someone next to me said it was on the bottom of the seat and not something on the floor under the chair. It was a little hard to read in there with how the lighting was, but it didn’t take me out of the show or anything and wasn’t a big thing – just something to mention.
My overall impression
I laughed, I cried, I had a long period of introspection afterwards. Mel was captivating and downright hilarious, and told an emotional story that had me hooked in the very opening moment. It was a rollercoaster and I loved every second of the ride!
