What I liked
I loved the writing and Mel’s performance. Yes, both those elements make up the show, but it’s what I got. The script oozes with one-liners and bits, and the show flows really well. That’s largely in part to Mel’s charisma and charm, and her range really makes the lows she’s going through pop and stick with the audience. The ending needs to be heard by more people. And of course I have to shoutout the director for helping Mel bring this to life! Her direction really elevated Mel’s strengths.
What I didn't like
I don’t have many notes here. I personally want to look up her time hosting the game show she showed clips of, as well as her commercial.
My overall impression
A show that speaks to any creative in this city (unless you’re a nepo baby), Mel uses both humor and vulnerability to tell her personal LA story. Her writing is sharp and she’s such a great actor to watch, showcasing different characters and turning on an emotional dime and really letting the audience feel it. I loved it.
