The timeline of years in postcards helped to let me know how much time had passed and the general age of how old you were.
What I didn't like
I wish the venue pulled the back curtain so that it was more flat so we could better watch the video and see the photos from the side angle/side seats. Seeing the folded faces during the videos was a little distracting.
My overall impression
WOW! Paulina’s creative use of media, jokes, and storytelling was such a great way to share a personal and private part of herself. Everyone naturally goes through life trying to figure out who they are and who they will become based on their family. Paulina takes us on a rollercoaster journey of hilarious and heartwarming moments of more than a decades long search for a part of herself, who she is and what makes her, her. From the struggles of not knowing who her biological father is and the sometimes nonchalant way her mother tried to protect her. To how she uses Mulder to not feel so alone, but also powerfully forge ahead in order to keep moving forward in life. Adopted By Appalachians is a very heartwarming story about little white lies, following your gut, and the unexpected joys found in the family you have and the family you later meet.
It’s brilliant! Go see it!
