The stories and songs flowed together really well. The deep love for this music is apparent in everyone’s performances. And there is a moment later in the show when Flynn reflects on what her 13 year old self would think of her now, believing that she would be proud. It made me surprisingly emotional as I, a fellow creative who came of age during the same era as Flynn describes, reflected on that same question.
What I didn't like
This is purely a tech issue, but Flynn’s microphone wasn’t always loud enough to hear her clearly over the band. I was fairly close to the stage so the volume was mostly okay for me, but I imagine it may have been more difficult to hear from further back in the audience.
My overall impression
What an awesome blast from the past! Kelsey Flynn skillfully pairs stories of formative moments from her life with the formative music that went with them. An engaging, funny, and earnest show led by Flynn and backed by a kick-ass band!
