What I liked
The motion and staging of the fantastical was brilliant and evocative, harmonizing wonderfully with the technical details. I particularly loved how scene changeovers took on a life of their own, with what felt more like cutaways rather than transitions, leading to a continuous flow that guides you through the woods
What I didn't like
At times, the volume of the gorgeous instrumentals drowned out the vocals and I missed out on the lyrics—but this could have been due to my proximity to the speakers in the house
My overall impression
An incredible feat of production, and pleasant little adventure. This beautifully crafted familiar tale hit all the ‘Over the Garden Wall’ vibes that I’m so fond of and swung for the fences, going far beyond what I thought possible for a show of this scale
