What I liked

My friends went a different night and said they had a great time and it was charming. I do wish I could have seen this show ‘work’. My night was a little more… excruciating. LOL. And I mean that in a “it was somewhat out of the control of the production” way. I loved the semi-immersive concept of the piece. The dance was well choreographed and the dream sequence in general was a great idea to spice things up at a time when we were desperate for spice.

What I didn't like

The problem with a concept like this is that you need the story-teller to have a real improv/comedy background to make this show work more times than not. The “woman” the night I was there was a man who, you could tell, was super uncomfortable through most of the show not knowing if he was doing things right. If the story teller had funnier suggestions/commentary about the props or descriptions of their thoughts- I think it could have worked better, but it seemed like the production was relying TOO hard on an existing script as their ride or die outline. I felt bad for the volunteer several times during the show as they were clearly uncomfortable and screaming for help with out literally screaming for help. When they tried to join in on the dream sequence they were yelled at and told to sit so that the cast could go about what they had planned with out interruption which kind of defeats the purpose of the show. It felt a little demeaning in the moment to the poor volunteer. The phone calls were also… rough.

My overall impression

An interesting concept that didn’t quite pan out the night I was there.
