My overall impression
Even tho I had read the reviews, even tho my nieces and nephew told me they were amazed, even tho I had previously been hella impressed by Johnny Manibusan and Jessica Michael Davis in other performances…Motherfucker With The Hat still far and away exceeded my expectations! Gritty, bombastic, comedic, heart rendering, dynamic, was the WHOLE cast from beginning to the end. It left me emotionally impacted hours later, in a “basking in the afterglow” way. From “I gotta job!”, “Betrayal”, “I hate him!”, “Playground”, “Van Damm”, to “It don’t matter to me”. It was a beautiful and masterful expression art imitating life in so many ways. What a ride!! BIG thanks to ALL the performers AND stage crew. While the transitions were challenging, it was a wonderful experience to see the stage crew move so quickly and in sync. Props (no pun intended) to Nick, Jamar and the rest for their poetry in motion between scenes. Fantastic work. Looking forward to seeing everyone again this Sunday. Even tho it’ll be at 11 pm, and hours past his bedtime for this old man, at least I will get to feel young again as I get strapped in for another amusement park ride. Lezz GOOOOOOO!!!!!!
