I liked the overall optimism of the show — could have easily been nihilistic and depressing — and especially the frequent use of the father’s gravelly voice to ground the story in enduring compassion and hope.
What I didn't like
Could have been tightened; some of the individual stories went on too long, and not all of the dog humor landed.
My overall impression
Unexpectedly wholesome exploration of sex and grief with a warm balance of dry humor and empathetic pathos.
