I liked how grounded the acting was and how the actors interacted with us, the audience. The play does a good job poking fun at some of the “American Ways,” that many of us have been exposed to throughout our lives, by exaggerating certain scenarios so few of us will ever experience in our lives. Certainly, a few interesting characters’ experiences shouldn’t dictate how the entire country needs to conduct themselves. I also enjoyed the tone that the actors set with their costumes and use of props. One of my favorite moments was somewhat of a preplanned accident of sorts, when the presenters skipped over a slide of their injured pet.
What I didn't like
One area that could have been improved is the lighting of the show. Unfortunately on the day of our show, one side of the stage area was lit much better than the other half, which left one actor poorly lit. Luckily, the actors use the stage well and are both seen well throughout the show, but it would have been nice to have seen them lit equally throughout the entire show.
My overall impression
This show is fun, quirky, and satirical. The actors do a great job embodying characters far outside of themselves, which really allows for some heightened, hilarious moments.
