What I liked

Despite the fact that the “trauma dump” has become a staple climax of even comedic solo shows of late, it’s rare to see the actual emotions laid bare in front of you. Leary nails this as and provides something that feels really fresh in this medium: honest to god, rooted in truth, ACTING. She made us feel not with any kind of manipulation but by feeling fully herself.

And then, somehow, she converts this vulnerability into laughs in a way that I’m not sure I fully understood how she pulled off.

What I didn't like

Nitpicky, but sound up on the video interstitials!

My overall impression

This show puts the equation “tragedy + time = comedy” to the ultimate test.

I think Dr. Graves is the only self-help capitalist/psychiatric snake oilsman I wish I could be friends with in real life?

This show is set up like a TED talk and somehow managed to sneak in some of the funniest physical comedy bits I’ve seen this year.
