What I liked
The finest monocle-work I’ve seen on the stage. I think Susan Sassi could do an amazing Lady Bracknell-type. (That’s not backhanded!! Lots of women have played that role. Dame Judi Dench played Lady Bracknell once and I’m confident Susan would have smoked her at the audition.)
The opening – asking the audience to clap to summon the lead and, incidentally, raise audience energy levels, was especially clever stagecraft.
What I didn't like
C’mon, I want to hear more songs!!
My overall impression
WHAT A SINGER!! Susan Sassi is a dazzling psychopomp in a journey through her own life, effortlessly hopping between characters, including the finest one-woman episode of Wheel of Fortune ever performed.
