Adam’s character reminds me of Matt Foley if he didn’t live in a van down by the river. His want to teach and his lack of social awareness combine into a cocktail of lovable cringe.
What I didn't like
I’m not sure if there was a fallback if any audience members did not want to participate. Perhaps there was and this problem is non-existent but in case the team is relying too much on the crowd, it’s good to know the show is not a make-or-break based on audience participation alone.
My overall impression
This one-man show is weirdly ensemble driven, but not in a bad way. I’ve seen one-person shows before that rely on the use of monologues and they fail to keep an audience involved. Better U involves the audience consistently and obviously somewhat depends on the members of the crowd. However no matter the member, Adam has the improv chops to make it fun.
