Carter wove together childhood/childlike memories with funny interpretations of what a non-National Geographic explorer would tell you about how to interact with Kodiak bears—a subspecies of grizzly bears who are incredibly tall and fast so pay attention! Interpretive dancers and background slideshow were a hoot, amplifying Carter’s deadpan delivery of some incredibly funny lines including “it was the biggest bear I’d ever seen….on a stamp.”
It’s fun and funny!
What I didn't like
One tip Carter offered about how to have a “successful” interaction with a full-grown Kodiak bear [ie to not become an appetizer in its main diet] is to “avoid eye contact.” His delivery also avoided eye contact with the audience. Was this part of the performance? Or an area to improve? Hard to say. :-)
My overall impression
LOVED this show! Witty riffs on giant bears, childhood, inner thoughts, interpretive dance, original songs: poignant, educational, funny.
