Joe’s portrayals of the characters (even the women) and how you knew which character was which. The intensity. My favorite part was where he went back and forth between choking someone and being choked.
What I didn't like
If the budget, audience, and venue supported, I would love to see some additional production value in terms of virtual backdrops for scene changes, etc. Maybe fake snow starting to fall during graveyard scenes, etc.
My overall impression
Bulger Boys is a fantastic, intense, powerful show performed by the always-brilliant Joe Coffey, who also wrote it. We sat center, front row and could experience the pain and rage of the characters radiating off of him. This is a beautiful portrayal of two brothers and the dysfunctional family dynamics when politics and crime intersect. I highly recommend you check this out, if you haven’t already.
