What I liked

I can’t tell you how much it means to me to hear someone who has been through schizophrenia tell with absolute self awareness and lucidity what it was like to live in her shoes. I grew up with a schizophrenic grandmother who lived with us for much of my life, and recently became the primary care contact for my schizophrenic uncle at the end of his life. I always longed for the chance to understand them better. Unfortunately my grandmother was a 50s housewife and her care by the system never led her to the right treatments she could’ve thrived with. She wanted to be an actress too. Sorry, back to Alyssa. She’s FUNNY! And a great performer on every level! Her writing choices throughout were top notch.

What I didn't like

I’m left with so many questions about how she got through this and became so self aware. The show is great.

My overall impression

Alyssa Scholl’s “Schizophrenia is Funny” is an absolute triumph, both in her personal ability to thrive beyond this illness, but also in the incredible execution of this show. She’s a very talented writer and actress and the show moved me so deeply.
