What I liked
Aaron Caponigo embodies Mel Brooks’s energetic and charming personality. Bill Chott is pitch-perfect as Hitchcock. He’s imposing and still and deliberate. I’m British and his English accent gets two thumbs up from me. The two are excellent foils for each other. Lindsay Seim delivers an intense performance. This play is really a three-hander and all involved hold their own.
The minimalist set serves the story well. The writing was top notch with an eggcellent finale. I could say more but I don’t want to spoil it. I was really impressed and hope this play has a long life beyond the Fringe.
What I didn't like
The room had some sort of buzz or a/c noise that distracted from the show a bit but I think that’s just the limitations of the venue and nothing the production could fix.
My overall impression
Really engaging play that is great for film buffs but you don’t need to have previous knowledge of the two men to enjoy this engaging comedy-drama.
