What I liked
In addition to directing, set design, and performances, I very much enjoyed the moments in the script that deviated from talking about their films and instead focused on the relationship that Brooks had with his wife, Bancroft, and the fraught relationship between Hitchcock and Hendren; giving dimension to the characters beyond their reputation in film.
What I didn't like
Some of the exposition is a little overt and could be folded into the script a bit more gently.
My overall impression
Chock full of laughs and film references for cinephiles, a string of meetings between Hitchcock and Brooks explores not only their relationship, but their individual fears, and the women in their life.
Cohesive aesthetic and visually arresting props. Tight direction and genuine performances. Chott as Hitchcock is a standout, with complete embodiment of the legendary director and total command of his unmistakable voice, dialect, and body mannerisms.
