It’s so clever in its presentation. Being able to keep a sense of emergence from the pain and hardship and weave in contagious music and fun. Brilliantly done.
What I didn't like
Is there a way in that theatre to light just the stage and keep the audience in the dark.
My overall impression
There are many talented, creative, and beautiful people in the arts. That’s for sure. But finding that thread of meaning and expression and turning something tragic in your life into a thing that is not only cathartic, but smart, funny, thoughtful, energizing… That is an entirely different level or artistic integrity. Callie has done this in the writing and performance of Final Girl. This one-woman musical is hilarious and full of courage and soul all at the same time. Its theme and music will linger with you long after the performance. And its deeper message will stay with you.
