What I liked
I really liked the set design and how she interacted with the set pieces. Every choice Elli made felt intentional and I appreciated the thoughtfulness that went into each individual moment of the show.
What I didn't like
I was distracted by how gorgeous Elli’s hair is.
My overall impression
Hell of a Year was the first show I saw for Fringe 2024 and I’m so glad it was! The show was so well thought out and executed. Elli is a powerful storyteller who keeps the crowd engaged during every moment of the show. The writing was clever, heartfelt, and funny! Some solo shows can be cringey in their lack of self-awareness to what is actually interesting to an audience who doesn’t have a relationship to the performer. This solo show was none of those things, it shined bright with a full story that anyone could relate to!
