I liked the self-awareness of the one-person show here. The set isn’t extravagant, but it also paints a picture. It communicates where we are without being gratuitous. Everything was so intentional, particularly the theatrical elements – which were minimal – as they should be. This piece is, deliciously, self-aware.
What I didn't like
This is the one-person-fringe show to watch. I saw opportunities for projections throughout this performance and they were never used- I LOVEDTHAT. The calendar prop being practical was deliciously theatrical. Stop using projections, fringers. Learn how it’s done here. It could’ve been longer, honestly, I’ll genuinely say that.
My overall impression
Often-times we watch one-person shows where they detail a harrowing year as a victim and this one flips that, kind-of. In this one, we watch our performer process their actions, and base them upon previous life experience, and weigh their decisions.
