I really liked the format of seeming to go in and out of the rehearsed performance, and casually breaking the fourth wall and improvising on the spot to what was happening, and sometimes adjusting the “planned” parts to accommodate what he was experiencing in the moment. Kept me on my toes and not sure what was “real.” A very surreal and engaging approach to performance!
What I didn't like
I mostly just want to see more! The only “criticism” is that his mom’s voice on the phone was a little hard to understand on that first call. Probably just the speakers. And because there were lots of laughs from the audience on that first call that made it hard to hear over. The second call was easier to hear, and was SUPER powerful!
My overall impression
So incredibly well written and well-executed! Ben dances the line of light, carefree playfulness and deep, genuine pathos so beautifully and skillfully. And the actual dancing is delightful too! Truly riveting from beginning to end.
