I truly loved hearing the intimate parts of Serena’s internal dialogue. As someone who knew her when some of these narratives were formed, I feel like I’m seeing my friend in a new lens and this inspires me to seek out conversations that circle these topics. I also really liked the amazing pop culture references.
What I didn't like
During the live stream, some of the music was loud so I was turning it up/down accordingly – not a bother though and would do it ten times over if I had to.
My overall impression
Me be me captured super complex topics (intersectionality, -isms, mental health, developmental trauma, etc) with a witty, intellectual, and raw tone. Serena is a loving, genuine human whose own vulnerability warms the audience up to question their own journey in personal identity. An invitation to quiet the noise and embrace yourself. Leaving in a warm glow of Serena’s heartfelt sincerity and renewed appreciation for me being me.
