What I liked
I’ve been thinking about a lot of the stories she told.
I really enjoyed her thoughts on casting as a POC person. Is she supposed to play only mixed characters? Only have south Asian? Only half Bangladeshi? I found this part very intriguing and wish there had been more!
What I didn't like
Personally, I think this could be broken into 2-3 solo shows.
The first half was about her childhood (so rich and interesting I wanted more!) and the second about being an actor and her experiences (I wanted to hear more about that. More about the type casting and college vs real world and agents and managers and fitting into a box or not). I hope in the future there’s a show where she delves further into all these awesome aspects she brought up!:) excited for it!
My overall impression
Intersectionality the solo show! With every new life experience or identity marker I was like yeah damn that is a lot to juggle. Felt like when you get really close to a new friend they fill you in on their childhood. She’s so personalable and real.
