About the Project
“Pertenencia?” follows two stories of LatinX youth disconnected from each other and their own culture. One, Nora, finds out she’s adopted on her 16th birthday and although she’s white-passing, realizes why she’s always felt different. Alejandro, the other, has always been taking care of his alcoholic, single mother, while looking up clues on the internet for his father – who he has never known and who his mother thinks they’re better off without. The first act concludes with both Nora and Alejandro leaving for college in Florida, paths about to cross.
