I love the story of a young queer person finding a way to healing through BDSM. Deeply appreciate seeing positive representations of kink. Jackie is so committed to vulnerability and truth throughout the show and it’s really inspiring. The moments where she embodies the mother character are very powerful, and I love the device of the wardrobe change to signal that Mom is now on stage. Jackie’s voice is BEAUTIFUL and I really enjoyed all of the music. The stage set-up and lighting were also really pretty, playful, and unique. Loved the glow-in-the-dark ropes!
What I didn't like
As an audience member I found myself wanting to feel more connected to Jackie. I think that can be achieved with more eye contact with the audience, to bring us into the performance more deeply.
I also thought that the volume of the music could have been a bit louder to raise the energy, particularly with the songs that are explosive.
My overall impression
This show was vulnerable, relatable, and the songs are BOPS!
