Vocals were on-point. Pretty at moments, raw and dark at others. The characters were so well-fleshed out and different- At no point did you not understand the very specific points-of-view. The way she used the ropes to illustrate her points was like a well-choreographed dance. The story, which isn’t always the case with solo shows, was clear and powerful. It organically led us from the beginning to the end, and left me with a sense of peace and possibility.
What I didn't like
So many things about this show worked so well! If I was going to make a suggestion, I’d say there were a couple opportunities to shape the transitions a little more naturally between storytelling into song. It didn’t take away from the experience, but if there are plans for a future run, I think that cultivating those transitional moments would be something cool to see.
My overall impression
I came into this show with no idea of what to expect, and I’m so glad I did! It was a performance you really needed to see live, which to me is what theater is all about. It was the last Fringe show I saw, and I’m so happy I saved it for the end. Jly encompassed the spirit of the festival, both on and off the stage.
