What I liked
Awesome and intriguing score, fantastic songs I’d love to revisit ASAP – give us the cast recording please! Songs landed somewhere between Galt MacDermot and Joe Iconis, which I just loved. Beautiful harmonies. Actors play multiple fun and fleshed-out characters. Loved the creative staging / stage-business, and technical design.
What I didn't like
I think just a little more clarity around the premise would be helpful in the exposition and in the second scene. I also found myself wanting the musicians in coats to match the cast at the top of show (but that’s so minimal). Great job all!
My overall impression
So glad to have sought out another awesome Kick Boom Theater show – quickly becoming a big fan. Awesome original music sung beautifully. Unique story-telling, music, and direction helps bring this quirky and compelling story to life. Funny, touching, relatable, with an important point to make about media’s role in American life.
