I loved the door. And the music and the performers and the staging. There is a whole lot to like. It’s stunning to look at and to hear. It’s a musical that didn’t skimp on the music. And visually every moment is a delight.
What I didn't like
I happen to know the creator of this piece and I’m sure he doesn’t think it’s perfect, but I’m sure it’s exactly what he wanted. This is a warning for anyone who is expecting a typical show with a classic narrative: This is not the show for you. If you can sit back and let an experience wash over you, you’ll love this piece.
My overall impression
This show is like a fever dream. It doesn’t play out like a typical musical. It’s like an opera written by someone trying to describe a Dali painting using only metaphors of TV shows from the golden age.
