I loved that Handala chose a doctor from Gaza to assist and gave some background on the recipient of the evening’s proceeds. All proceeds from the run of the show will go to the people of Gaza.
After the show, everyone went to the parking lot to learn some traditional Palestinian dance.
What I didn't like
.
My overall impression
Handala is a touching tribute to the people of Palestine. Myriam Ali-Ahmad is the sole performer and she knocked it out of the park! Not being a performer, nor an artist by any stretch of the imagination, my first thought was “How the hell did she memorize all those lines??” Flawlessly, stories and songs about the people of Palestine, were spun into a beautifully woven tapestry. Through interviews by Myriam, the stories of each came to life.
