The music was great! The audience was encouraged to sing along with some choruses, which was a rare treat. The show had a homey, personal atmosphere that I’ve never seen in a musical before. The costume changes were also a real treat!
What I didn't like
Not a lot! The sound system could have been slightly better, but that’s a problem with the space, and not the performer – I’d love to see a production where it sounded as lush as the album!
My overall impression
Terrific! A shockingly heartfelt show that made an impressively simple, accessible analysis of the dynamics that make it hard to mature in late capitalism, through the lens of a Disney kid. I’ll admit it: The show got some tears out of me before the curtain fell.
