What I liked

The atmosphere of the show, from the moment you walk into the space, the smell of sage and incense, the dark dim lights with a barren stage, the lone ominous character in the middle of the stage, all these elements immediately transported me to the world of the show.

I also liked the part featuring the ritualistic dance of the creatures. It was very impressive and a very well executed piece that gave the creatures their time to shine.

The intensity of the actors was both mesmerising and also terrifying at times. It went so well with the makeup and costumes they had, which some I would like to highlight literally look like skeletons mixed with dementors.

Additionally I was a fan of the writing, the story flowed smoothly and I could understand all the beats that were passing in real time. Overall the heartwarming tale is also filled with aspects of horror and mythology.

What I didn't like

I will need to be very picky because the show was to my liking but in the interest of improvement I think some work still needs to be done with handling the dead body. It was painfully obvious how it was a prop and completely took me out of it for a moment. It missed the weight that comes with carrying a carcass.

My overall impression

Generally very captivating, surprisingly moving and scary. Reminiscent of the Aztec culture and mythology. I would recommend this show because of the delightful writing, the creative costuming and makeup, and the captivating acting.
