What I liked
I was on the edge of my seat for the entire show! I never knew what was going to happen next, which made the show incredibly engaging. I liked the moments when the audience laughed and Emma gave us a “what are you laughing at” look – such a silly, meta bit that got me every time. Emma is a master at awkward humor, physical comedy and prop work, and building tension and breaking it.
What I didn't like
I may be an ole fogey, but I think pre-show consent forms for the audience to fill out could be useful for shows like Emma’s that have high or intense audience immersion/engagement! Just to make sure everyone is comfortable with the uncomfortable.
My overall impression
Valley Kids unite!!! Emma is incredibly fresh, unique, and hilarious. She has such a strong stage presence, and knows exactly what her voice and style of humor is. There were moments where she gave me Napoleon Dynamite/Pedro on steroids vibes – which is my FAVORITE MOVIE OF ALL TIME – but even then, her show and performance are in a league all her own.
