What I liked
The performances were genuine and honest, funny and touching. The musical numbers were so natural and organic. I remember learning years ago that in a musical, the reason a character starts singing is because what they are saying is so important to them that words no longer are enough, that they need to break into song. I really felt that here, I could really see the “why” to each character’s actions and to why they broke into song when they did. I also loved the nuanced friendships were depicted between the main characters. We could see each character’s flaws which made them all more likeable and relatable.
What I didn't like
I would love to see this made into a movie or TV show. Please! The world needs it.
My overall impression
This was such a fabulous show. This show tackles important subject matter about self acceptance and navigating complicated relationships while also being filled with amazing performances, great songs, and a stellar cast.
