I was riveted by Rahvaunia’s performance portraying over 10 characters in a 50 minute show! I laughed, cried and was extremely moved by the characters but, more importantly, the subject matter HIV awareness. Brilliantly written and I would recommend seeing this show!! Excellent acting and writing! Rahvaunia's portrays several characters that have contracted HIV, but are not the conventional stereotype. One is a woman who is "saving herself for marriage", another is a young college co-ed, and yet another is a social media influencer. Throughout the show Rahvaunia's narrator, a healer, weaves these stories together and we learn that HIV is now more prevalent in our older population, as well as in the our black older community. She makes some very important points regarding the lack of awareness of this issue, and hence the title of her show: tHIS is VERY IMPORTANT. I was so impressed with Rahvaunia's performance, I saw the show twice! I find it so amazing to watch one person flip between characters within a scene and Rahvaunia does it seamlessly. i was not sure what to expect with a one woman show but I was blown away by the entire show. Rahvaunia’s talent shined through in her ability to transform into multiple characters all while providing education on HIV, integrating the perfect balance of humor, and reminding us in such a beautiful way the need to have compassion for ourselves and others.
