What I liked
This show was a cool way of showcasing multiple true stories from women in the OSS during World War II. I learned a lot in a fun way, with Ruth and Lottie’s friendship as a backbone for the whole story. The actors all had clear chemistry, and I was incredibly impressed by the amount of characters some of them pulled off. There were so many accents and costume changes they had to do and it was played to perfection. Bravo!
The tap dancing scene was a fun bit and I felt like I was part of Ruth and Lottie’s actual crowd at that point, since the German officers were sitting right in front of me looking out at the stage. That was a nice moment of immersion. Also, with the show going so many places, I appreciated the sign onstage that showed where each scene was located. It was a clean, simple way to help the audience stay on track as Ruth and Lottie traversed Europe on their missions.
What I didn't like
Some transitions felt abrupt when switching between historical moments. This could be easily fixed though, like adding another line of dialogue at the end of some moments to either give more closure or set up the next scene more clearly. I absolutely loved the songs used when changing scenes though. They were all bops (I think solely by female artists?), having me dancing in my chair, and related well to the scenes. Put that playlist out somewhere!
My overall impression
If you want to laugh, see some badass women, and learn about real history… Girls Can Dismantle Fascist Dictatorships, Too is for you!
I liked the collection of stories included and how Lottie and Ruth provided a connecting thread for all of them.
