What I liked
The clever use of cue cards and props, the seamless character transitions, and the historical vaudeville elements were outstanding. The powerful performances, especially Rachel Winton’s vaudeville-style singing, were captivating and deeply resonant, making the play a creative triumph at the Hollywood Fringe Festival.
What I didn't like
The pacing could be improved, and the actors should project more on such a large stage. Better controlled lighting, including more use of dim lighting, spotlights, and colored lighting, would help focus attention and energy, enhancing the thematic elements and overall impact.

GIRLS CAN DISMANTLE FASCIST DICTATORSHIPS, TOO (written by Rachael Winton) showcases the power of theatre with a compelling, funny, and moving performance. Directed by Madeline Cook, this all-women ensemble tells the story of two teenage girls, Lottie Martinez (Marina Villegas) and Ruth Rosenberg (Rachel Winton), who become WWII spies to save Lottie’s sister.
The use of cue cards and creative props transforms the small stage into various settings, highlighting the ingenuity of live theatre. The cast is spectacular, with Villegas and Winton delivering inspiring performances. Rachael Westra, Kyla Frieden, and Amarita Mookerjee seamlessly move between characters, bringing energy and humor to each role.
The play’s staging recalls vaudeville and the Weimar Republic, adding historical depth. Rachel Winton’s vaudeville-style singing was especially resonant, reminding me of my grandma who joined the army at 16 during WWII.
GIRLS CAN DISMANTLE FASCIST DICTATORSHIPS, TOO is a creative storytelling triumph and a must-see at the Hollywood Fringe Festival.
