Porter deftly weaves the stories and songs together. And though the subject matter is centered around her experiences in theatre specifically, I feel like this show will resonate even with those who have never tread the boards. Typecasting may be a frustration unique to actors, but being put in a proverbial box/“defined” by others’ assumptions is a much more universal struggle. One that Porter illuminates so beautifully with stories from her own life.

Lucy Porter delivers a powerful and powerfully-funny performance in Ingénue.
