Do What You Want is a 60-minute solo show, my fantasy of how to absolve and release guilt while being in desperate search of self, that I wrote under the mentorship of artists at East West Players and in association with EWPlayers. The piece is part memoir, part odyssey that explores the complexities of codependency in single parent only child dynamics, the ripple effects of bullying, the undertones of abandonment and how all that clouds our ability for self discovery and stunts development. On stage will stand two chairs, positioned in all ways under the sun to paint different characters, relationships and settings. A pink light will be utilized to symbolize the main setting and a purple light to symbolize the internal head and heart space while bright, near florescent lights will symbolize the fantasy sequences.
