What I liked
The actors were great and worked very hard! Bethany Koulias’ movement, sounds, and puppeteering were particularly impressive. I also thought Mason Conrad’s performance as Pala was delightful.
I respect the bold messiness of the script and its willingness to be seen as flawed and unfinished.
What I didn't like
It felt dissonant to me for a ticketed and fully produced version of the show to maintain that it valued the experience of the writer/creator above all else. Since live theatre is inherently about the audience, I’d be interested in a production of the show that both respects the script’s origins as drama therapy, while also respecting the performers, technicians, and audience members who gave their time and energy to the piece. I think drama therapy is valuable and valid, but I think a live production has to consider everyone involved (I wish I had been able to applaud the actors!). I think it’s totally possible for this script to find the balance, and I wish the whole team luck as they continue to develop the piece!

The show made me think about the interesting line between drama therapy and live theater!
