What I liked
I loved loved loved the Bollywood bit. Her song and dance choices got me hyped up like I was in a club. I appreciated how expressive she was and her satirical writing. The live percussion made the performance truly special.
What I didn't like
My view was often blocked, so there were a lot of moments where I could not see what was happening. I think a different venue would work better, so that the audience doesn’t constantly have to crane their neck to see what’s happening. I appreciated how many different angles of the topic she wanted to cover, but I think it could have been simplified.
My overall impression
The Anti “Yogi” puts on full display Mayuri’s talents as a dancer, actress, and storyteller. She seamlessly flowed through characters, making her feel like a one-person band. Mayuri clearly knows what her strengths are as a performer and commits so fully to every choice she makes with her body, expressions, and words.
