Mayuri Bhandari is a stunning, gifted performer and an incredibly talented dancer. Her passion and mindfulness of the subject matter truly elevated what may have been a very run of the mill one-person show to a level of artistry rarely seen in these kinds of productions. Additionally, the live percussionist added immensely to the experience of the show.
What I didn't like
The simple staging was very effective and the performer’s use of the space was great. Given the nature of the Fringe Festival and the venue, I realize that less is more, but I do wish there could have been a small riser, so when Ms. Bhandari was on the floor everyone in the back could see her fine work.
My overall impression
I was, for the most part, unfamilar with the subject matter of this show. It was a fabulous performance with an interesting and truly thought provoking subject. One-pereson shows are a tough nut to crack for anyone, But Ms. Bhandari misxed dance, poetry, narrative, music into an exceptional one-of-kind theatrical experience.
