This spectacular dazzles, amazes, and inspires! Mayuri moves, transforms, dances, acts, imitates, chides, and challenges the audience to get real. By assessing her own positionality in the world of Yoga, both as a person of Indian descent and a socially engaged American, she reveals great truths about our collective notions of self.... full review

A great performance that centered around the practice of Yoga, linking it with the many deities of the Hindu pantheon, like Krishna and Kali, and to the Buddha as well. A clever conversation with herself on what is the true meaning of being a yogi: is it the performance of yoga or going beyond/through it to find the real purpose in your life. ... full review

The Anti "Yogi" is a wonderful story about how culture ad roots can become distorted and com modified and resold in the West, often antithetical to the original principals and purposes that the practices come from. The dancing, acting, and sheer passion from Mayuri shine so brightly and invites and encourage introspection into daily life and yoga culture and the systems around you and I cannot recommend it enough!... full review

The Anti-Yogi is a phenomenal piece that makes audience members reconsider the way they engage with yoga and the world at large. Mayuri is completely in her element, able to express her passion and rage across multiple mediums of expression – dancing as well as acting as multiple people and deities. Yoga is more than just a series of poses. To Mayuri it is a spiritual practice, her culture, and a way of life that leaves the world a better place than the way we found it. I walked away learning so much about the world that she comes from and how I can personally hold myself and others accountable amidst capitalism and appropriation. I’m proud to join the Anti-Yogi army, and I can’t wait for you to go see this show for yourself and experience t... full review

The show was spectacular. Dancing, music multimedia and fabulous acting. What more can you ask for in a show. However it also had a powerful massage about cultural appropriation while also educating the audience about the beautiful history of yoga and the mythos. And funny too. Highly recommended to everyone. ... full review
