I love how deeply they explored the concept: What would actually look like, present day, for Horatio and Benvolio to go through these parallel traumatic experiences. There’s genuine comedy that lives within the horror of it all, and they ride that razor thin line in a very satisfying way.
What I didn't like
This show works really well in a Blackbox and is perfectly suited for Fringe. One day, I would love to see the blown out version of it, where Horatio’s “hand-me-down” royal apartment is really decked out.
My overall impression
A love poem to Shakespeare’s B-characters, told over whiskey, hard seltzer, and pizza.
As others have pointed out, this show is funny, moving, and refreshingly genuine — capped off by two heartfelt performances from both actors.
It’s a beautiful examination of what it means to be a good friend, to show up, to care for others, while taking care of yourself in an F’d up world.
