What I liked
I will forever be a fan of theater that actually provides a NEW and EXCITING take on Shakespeare!
What I didn't like
The show packs in a challenging amount of exposition. With further development, it would be great to see more varied storytelling techniques beyond the dialogue between the two characters. The voicemails (those who have seen the show will understand) are an excellent example of this—a beautifully effective way to expand the story while diversifying the content delivery!
My overall impression
Highly Recommend!! We Need Better Friends is an engaging and perceptive adaptation that challenges the reverence we have for some of Shakespeare’s most beloved characters. This sharp take on two of the bard’s most gut-wrenching stories is an impressive feat.
