The play was very well-written and knew how to play with its meta/self-referential nature without feeling tooooo meta. The actors were a joy to watch.
What I didn't like
I don’t know if people who don’t know these plays will get as much out of it, but not every play is written for every person, and that’s the joy of theater.
My overall impression
Super delightful Shakespeare-adjacent two-hander that tickles those of us who are especially familiar with the plays from which these characters come. The actors had wonderful chemistry and were able to successfully build on all the offstage drama we never see (but know oh so well) to inform their choices and arcs.
