See above, and also, it’s refreshing to see kink, which even in L.A. can still be treated with skepticism, so freely and confidently explored as a topic. There was no shame, no holding back, no apologies, just truthfulness. I really appreciated that.
What I didn't like
LIGHTSPOILERS
I felt some of the anecdotes could have gone deeper or had more detail. In particular, I would have loved more prologue about her relationship with her mother and the way it shaped her view of sex and sexuality. As it stands, I felt there was enough context to understand and feel the importance of the ending revelation, but I could have used even more!
My overall impression
An emotional, relatable, and engaging experience of someone’s journey of self-discovery. Jean is a captivating storyteller who kept me present and eager for the next anecdote throughout the piece. As someone with, shall we say, similar interests, I frequently found myself nodding and saying, “yep” as I remembered my own self-discovery experiences along with her.
