There were several aspects that I appreciated . The content was original which of course is always refreshing. For me, the educational aspect really stood out for me. I really learned so much more about Gil Scott- Heron, as a human being , and not just as a musician. The direction, by Lynne Conner, was sharp, tight yet simple, which allowed for the purity of his daughter’s love and the power of her father’s love and influence on her shine through. The dialogue, intentionally and powerfully crafted, allowed the cast to seamlessly ebb and flow on stage, creating a fun, interactive and memorable experience for myself, and the rest of the audience. AND-they had these cute lil’ shakers with the play printed on them which gave us(the audience) a chance to shake to the beat of the play!!! Soooo much fun !!!💙💙💙💙 🎭 🎶
What I didn't like
It was excellent… can’t wait to come back
My overall impression
Gil Scott-Heron Bluesology was a wonderful, poignant and intimate journey into the life of poet, activist and legendary musician Gil Scott-Heron through the eyes of his daughter. The entire cast as well as the visionary and super talented creative team Lynne Conner (Director-Writer), Tuesday Conner (Executive Producer-Writer) and Gia Scott-Heron (Writer-Actress) did their thing!!!!
