Woody did a great job spoofing the entire John Wick franchise and nailed a lot of what makes Keanu Reeves so satirical. Involving the audience and keeping surprises ready really made this show stand out from others. Additionally, pulling back the curtain on the process and getting audience members to take part in the choreographed SFX was a great touch to make the audience feel like they were truly part of the action.
What I didn't like
Self-admittingly, the show lacks a bit of purpose. There were moments of reference to Keanu “hiding his anger” and eventually lashing out, which I thought would be a great theme to play with, but as Woody pointed out in an aside to the audience, the show was more of an outlet for silliness and escapism than anything else, of which I agreed.
My overall impression
Woody’s ability to immerse himself in a role is shown in full force here. The show had tons of surprises and lots of truly funny moments, but it left me searching for meaning in the show, even if there wasn’t any.
