The platonic ideal of a fringe show. Surprising, hilarious, and heartfelt. I had no connection to the show or Charlie but attended the Saturday 6/15 show and was super impressed.
What I didn't like
The intimate nature of the Broadwater Studio adds much but Charlie (and Bottom!) deserves a much larger stage to strut their stuff!
My overall impression
Even if the idea of a Midsummer Night’s Dream adjacent solo show makes you groan, GO. Even if you yourself are a confident performer, GO. Even if you’re tired of Fringe shows, GO!
You will encounter a performer who finds a way to mine the inner depths of a goofball to explore identity, radical vulnerability, and the unique magic of the theater in a hilarious joke-filled format that ol’ Billy Shakes himself would certainly envy, then steal…
